Local authorities
Powerday offers cost effective and innovative pre-treatment solutions helping local authorities improve recycling performance for London boroughs.
We operate long and short term partnerships with local authorities to process a wide range of waste types including residual black bag, street cleansing, fly tip, bulky waste and construction waste. Our solutions include collection and tipping, recycling and recovery for municipal, commercial and construction waste, as well as operation of Civic Amenity sites and consultancy and training.
Our site in north west London is licensed to process 1.6 million tonnes of waste a year, the equivalent of 8% of London’s waste, and is open 24 hours a day seven days a week. We operate a wide range of recycling and recovery equipment to provide an alternative solution to landfill. We provide robust recycling performance reporting and ensure traceability with virtually all recycled and recovered materials remaining in the UK.
The site provides unique transportation links being located within a 26 mile lock-free section of the Grand Union Canal and also by a key railway junction. Our railway sidings and wharf enable less waste to be transported by road resulting in fewer carbon emissions, less noise pollution and reduced traffic congestion.
Our visitor centre can be used to show your residents how you are developing innovative ways to improve your recycling performance and reducing the waste you send to landfill as well as inform residents on the issues of waste reduction and reuse.
Our clients
Our local authority clients include the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Islington, Hounslow, Brent, Ealing, Harrow and Hillingdon.
At Tower Hamlets Council we see this as an opportunity to develop our innovative recycling solutions with Powerday through Veolia as illustrated by our high rise flat recycling scheme.
