Powerday champions the Tour de Force 2010 charity event

Sponsored by Powerday, cycling club R2R (Rugby to Riding) has one momentous charity event in the calendar this year - participation in the Tour de Force 2010.

The Tour de Force covers the Tour de France route of 2010 just two weeks before the real race and follows the precise route of the main tour, all 20 stages, starting in Rotterdam and finishing in Paris.

R2R (a group which gives ex and soon-to-be ex rugby players a new sport to take part in while raising money for charity) is delighted to be invited to participate in this William Wates Memorial Trust event.

R2R will take part with a team of around ten along with over 100 other riders who are supporting the Trust. Between them, the Wates team will attempt to cover the entire 20 stages in three weeks (with two rest days) and at least two of the team will be attempting all 20 stages. The R2R team has chosen to ride the final five stages, ending up at the grand finale in Paris.

The challenge is not only to cover some of the most gruelling and prestigious routes in cycling but also to raise a target of £50,000 to go to the Trust which supports disadvantaged children.

Simon Little, Sales and Marketing Director of Powerday, who will be participating in the R2R team says: “Powerday R2R team is pleased to be involved in this fantastic event and to support the Wates Group in raising money for the William Wates Memorial Foundation. I’m looking forward to taking part and hopefully making it to the finish line!”

Anyone interested in supporting Powerday’s efforts to raise money for the William Wates Memorial Trust should contact Simon on 020 8960 4646.
