Mark Bensted speaks at House of Commons alongside Hilary Benn
Powerday’s Managing Director, Mark Bensted, spoke alongside the Rt Hon Hilary Ben MP at the House of Commons last month at an event on localism and sustainable resources.
The event was organised by the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group (APSRG) which provides a forum for discussion between parliamentarians, business leaders and the sustainable resource community.
Former Environment Secretary, and now Shadow Secretary for Communities and Local Government, Hilary Benn spoke about the importance of building a sustainable economy and the need to make it easy for people to ‘do the right thing’ with regard to recycling as well as to demonstrate that the challenges we face in the industry can be overcome.
Mark Bensted spoke about the difficulty in obtaining planning permission for waste treatment facilities and the need to overcome this if the UK is to build the waste infrastructure that it so badly needs.
Simon Little, Sales and Marketing Director, Powerday said: ‘’Powerday is delighted to be a member of the APSRG and to have the opportunity to share our experiences and thoughts with its members and guests. The APSRG provides a great opportunity to meet peers and parliamentarians with a similar mind set and concern for the environment.”
