Le Tour de Force 2010 - We did it!

After cycling thousands of kilometres on French roads that were giving off up to 47 degrees heat, the Powerday R2R team completed the Tour de Force 2010 last Sunday.

The 9 members participated with over 100 other riders in the event to raise money for William Wates Memorial Trust (WWMT). The WWMT is a charity set up to help disadvantaged young people fulfill their potential and stay away from a life of crime, mainly through sporting activities. The Tour de Force 2010 followed the precise route of the main Tour de France, all 20 stages.

Simon Little, Sales and Marketing Director at Powerday and enthusiastic cyclist in the Tour de Force says: “The challenge to cover some of most of the most gruelling and prestigious routes in cycling was enormous however the team was there to raise money for the trust to help to continue their great work, it is a truly special event and a privilege to participate, I hope our efforts will be well supported by all that know us”

The hardest stage of the 2010 Tour, the so-called ‘Circle of Death’ entailed 120 miles and around 14,750 feet of vertical ascent in the four iconic Pyreneean cols of the Peyresourde, Aspin, the mighty Tourmalet and the Soulor/Aubisque.

Rick Wates, one of the organisers of the event said “Every single rider in the Tour de Force completed the climbs – that is a monumental achievement for us amateurs and testimony to the graft and determination (and organisation) that has typified the event to date. Well done Tour de Forcers!”

The cycling is over however the fundraising continues. At Powerday we would like to heartily thank to all those who have supported the team so far.
